Eye Exam

Our optometrists take even routine eye exams very seriously. During a yearly or bi-annual examination, our Hamilton patients will receive a patient history review, a series of vision and eye tests, assessments of eye focusing and movement, and an eye health evaluation. Our optometrists will discuss any additional testing that may be required to diagnose an eye disease or condition. Call us today at (905) 318-8019 to schedule an appointment.

NEW! OPTOMAP® is now AVAILABLE TO ALL PATIENTS

We are pleased to inform you that during your next visit, you will experience the benefits of the latest technology in eye care – the Optomap®.

The optomap is a wellness screening tool that assists us in the evaluation of your retina. With the optomap, we can discover any abnormalities or confirm the health of your retina, diagnose any potentially harmful diseases, and if necessary, determine the best course of action. An annual comprehensive eye exam is an important component of your health care regimen.

These yearly check-ups enable us to test your vision and examine the inside and the back area of your eye, known as the retina. The sensitive tissue that makes up the retina is susceptible to a variety of diseases that could lead to loss of vision or in some cases blindness. The early detection of any retinal abnormality is crucial to maintaining your ocular and systemic health because in most cases of eye disease, in the early stages, you will experience no signs or symptoms.
The optomap is a simple, non-invasive procedure. In less than a second, we can generate a high resolution, digital, colour image of your retina. This image becomes part of your permanent record and enables us to see more of your retina, measure aspects of your eye, and magnify some of the finer details. We can also track changes in your eye over time by comparing each year’s optomap. In addition, you take a more active role in your eye care by reviewing the images with your eye doctor and learning more about how best to protect your vision. If you are interested in learning more about the optomap, please visit www.optomap.com.

The optomap contributes to our standard of care and improves patient education and satisfaction. We are dedicated to offering our patients the best eye care possible. We look forward to seeing you at your next appointment!

Dry Eye Therapy

Dry eyes occur due to an imbalance in the tear system and your tears are not able to provide adequate lubrication to your eyes. When this happens, you may develop several vision problems, including discomfort, light sensitivity, itchiness, redness, burning and/or stinging. You may also feel as though something is in your eye and experience blurry or loss of vision, making it difficult to perform everyday activities such as reading. At Dr. Dhaliwal and Associates, we offer several methods to treat dry eye, starting with the comprehensive examination with our optometrists. Based on your unique eye condition, we offer treatment options that may include products such as the I-Lid ‘N Lash+ Tea Tree Oil, I-Relief Mask, or Blink Intensive Eye Drops.

Contact Lenses

Not sure that glasses are for you? Ask our Hamilton staff about contact lenses. Advances in the field of optometry have produced a variety of different types of contact lenses with a range of benefits. Rigid gas-permeable (RGP), daily-wear soft, extended-wear, extended-wear disposable, and planned replacement are the various types of contact lens options available today. Book an appointment with our Hamilton optometrist to discuss the various options and determine which type will best fit your needs and lifestyle. There are many advantages to consider when determining if contact lenses are right for you, and our knowledgeable staff members are here to answer any questions.

LASIK

Lasik (Laser assisted in situ keratomileusis) is a corrective alternative to glasses or contact lenses. Like glasses or contact lenses, LASIK is a method for treating refractive conditions including nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. At Dr. Aman Dhaliwal & Associates, we provide pre- and post-operative exams for LASIK and other eye procedures. Call (905) 662-9043 today to schedule an examination to see whether you are a candidate for LASIK.
